Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend...
I had to work Saturday morning and then Monday night, so our time was limited, but we definitely made the best of it.  I spoke with our neighbors and they said that they'd be able to go camping that weekend too, but wouldn't be able to leave till Saturday either, so it worked out perfect.  The Noall's were planning on camping Friday night, but had to leave Saturday morning so we had them take our tent and save us a spot.
Little did all of us know that up Left Hand was also the Rendezvous on top of Memorial Day Weekend...oops.  That made finding a camp spot for the Noall's very challenging.  They did, however, find a spot.  It was pretty far up Left Hand, we had to park on the road, cross a river, and it was in a wide open area...us and the Shelton's couldn't help but laugh.  We'll give them a break because it was getting dark when they found it.  So I ran over to the wide open field and tried to look around to find a little more "woodsy" area.  We just had to go up a little further and found the perfect spot with tons of trees.  We still had to throw all our stuff across the river, which made more quite the adventure! haha
Ready 1,2,3 Throw (Christie and I got dominated a time or two by our stuff being chucked across by the boys.
We had time to hurry and set up camp and make dinner.  It was delicious.  We had the BEST corn on the cob.
The next morning
The Shelton's had time to eat breakfast with us, play a little ladder ball, do some fishin' (well the boys did and Christie and I tried skipping rocks...fail), and then they had to get to a BBQ with their family real quick then they were coming back.  So Brad and I had most of the afternoon to ourselves.

We set up the hammock and took a nap

Then we went on a walk..yes that is my husband with a walking stick (from craft time ;)) and a fanny pack haha
On our hike
While the Shelton's were gone...let's just say we had a lot of time on our hands.  As I mentioned earlier, we had craft time (Brad made a walking stick and I made bracelets haha), hiked, fished, played games, napped, I got scared by a snake that we couldn't ever find again, we climbed Pride Rock (just a cliff right next to our site), we found a dead snake, and we made a bridge for our friends to walk back across on.  We then stuck the snake that we found on the bridge.  The anticipation for our friends to come back killed us.  Well, they they decided to come back while we were on our hike, so we didn't get to see their reaction (although, the Noall's and other random people's reactions were pretty funny).  The Shelton's actually found the snake that scared the poop out of me earlier, and it was still alive!  Yep, they beat us on the prank.
You can barley see the snake on the little bridge

They just wanted to play with it.
Brad...lets just say...doesn't "like" snakes...so this is a big deal

We were so happy when the Shelton's came back, even though they scared us with the snake.  The boys messed around with it for a bit, then we had Brad throw it back into the river...he threw it a little hard, and accidently killed it by getting it stuck in some trees across the river.  It was sad, but we couldn't help but laugh.  Then we just spent some time by the river.  It was so pretty.

A little later the Noall's made it back.  They brought a couple with them also, so it ended up being a lot of fun having four couples there with us.  We just played games and sat around the fire and laughed a lot!  It was a great night!

We had such a fun Memorial Day Weekend.  It was fun to finally hang out and relax.  I really might say it in every post because school had just dominated my life the last year.  We are blessed with good friends that love to do the same things we do!  We had so much fun!
